DESCANSOS (2009), DESCANSOS Redux (2011)
SYNOPSIS
DESCANSOS consists of a series of vignettes about love, loss and death and the many steps we take in between. The story spans all the way across northern New Mexico, from Albuquerque to Taos and finally ending in the small village of Chimayo and at its sacred church, El Santuario. DESCANSOS also revolves around why people make the Lenten pilgrimage every year to El Santuario and what the many roadside shrines known as descansos actually stand for.
DESCANSOS REDUX has been reimagined and remastered, and numerous modifications have been made to the original film, including:
- The film has been shortened by 20 minutes to a total run time of 120 minutes.
- Aspect Ratio has been transformed from Widescreen (1.85:1) to Scope (2.35:1).
- The film has been drastically color graded to provide more vibrant visuals.
- The film now employs Roybal’s trademark split-screen technique throughout.
